A SERIES OF DOORS: letter to a stranger
When did you stop feeling like a child? Why do we have to stop feeling like kids? We want adults to feel that curious childlike nature which over the years we have had to cover up, bury. This age is different for everyone, although we know that for many immigrant children, this age is much earlier than others.
This invitation only event will primarily invite migrants living in Brighton into the installation: a series of doors; you’ll be encouraged to stop for a minute and think. It can be difficult to prioritise your time to stop and think, so we encourage you to do just that.
The prop door is a primary character of the auction rooms. The space will be separated as a series of prop doors are taken all the way through, creating multiple zones.
Payment of a letter to a stranger is all we need.
With prompts hidden around each zone, you’ll be inspired to write a letter to a stranger. You may never even meet the one you write the letter to however we wish you leave feeling connected. Feel a sense of belonging whilst breaking boundaries.
WHEN: 7 may – 6 june 2021
WHERE: The Auction Rooms, Gloucester St, Brighton
