Mark Walker

I currently work as the News Editor for Latest TV, one of the most dynamic local TV stations in the UK Local TV Network, being fully independent and creating lots of new content daily, which is shared with many of the other 34 city stations. I have been involved in producing and presenting politics shows around Brexit, the Budget, Local and General Elections, and a daily show, called The Vote which invites people from the city to speak about the issues of concern to them. As well as the News and The Vote, my other programmes are The Newspapers and The Footie Show. My style is to summarise the nub of the issue and give people space to speak about what matters to them and their community, which sometimes involves planning issues!
Before Latest TV, I have worked at a senior level in communications, the public policy industry and directly within politics for senior politicians at Westminster in the UK Parliament, and in Brussels and Strasbourg in the European Parliament. I worked in the UK Parliament for Greg Barker MP, the former Shadow Minister for the Environment. I advised Greg and other Shadow Ministers on a range of issues. I worked for two MEPs in the Brussels Parliament; John Bowis OBE MEP and Marina Yannakoudakis MEP. This involved working on issues relating to the environment, European transport and health, and I wrote the report on Cross-Border Healthcare enabling people to access healthcare abroad across the European Union. After working in politics I became the Director of Policy and Advocacy at RPP Healthcare, a healthcare consultancy based in Brussels. What brought me to town planning was a passion in Brighton’s past, present and future, and it also usefully encompasses my interests of politics and the media as well!
