Work in Progress
Presents: The aim of the Presents project was to explore the “death of the high street”. The workbook first establishes the current social environment in which high streets exist. It then explores the ways in which they are suffering or thriving and speculates on the future of the high street based on other successful models. The research explores social sustainability and is informed by adversarial design.
Futures: The aim of the Futures project was to explore the way that “sustainability” is communicated through a linguistic paradigm. By first establishing a framework in linguistic theory, it became possible to assess how viable the current lexicon for “sustainability” is. The workbook goes on to identify the possible implications of this in design and proposes a design provocation in the form of a game.
Moving forward: I will continue to research into the relationship between language and sustainable design through collaborations and design interventions.
