This is work from a project called Stuffed and Mounted that deals with themes of Britishness, consumerism and greed. It looks to criticise the ridiculousness of the British ruling class and the comfort and complacency in British life as being achieved through continued control and wealth extraction from the Global South. Its aim is to be outrageous, distasteful, and even grotesque to mirror these facts. I hope to criticise the British government and British life as comically outrageous and disgusting, as a pompous and ridiculous veneer to a sinister and aggressively imperialist country. I hope to use ideas of satire throughout my project and an aesthetic of tackiness as interesting ideas to use in an architectural project. My collage is a look at all things British as well as things that seem normal but have a dark or ugly truth to them.
