This is a story about a JOURNEY.
I have always been thinking about what is happiness in architecture. I used to think that happiness is all about programme – like playgrounds, adventure parks and amusement parks. Later, I finally realised happiness is not only about that. Most of my happy moments are related to others. Perhaps, connection between one another is the key element. Meeting people, making conversation used to be so easy until 2020. A pandemic happened and restrictions began. Then, life begins to slow down, and I started to appreciate ordinary happiness more, which we call 日 常 之 美(rì cháng zhī měi) in Mandarin.
Let’s go back to the journey.
The idea is inspired by an old man I met fa ew years ago in Hong Kong when I went on my first solo hike. He told me that “Sometimes it is not about the destination, it’s about the journey.” Having a ‘hill’ in the middle of a city is not only providing people with nature in the current situation, but also allows us to slow down our path and enjoy every little thing.
