Housing the City - Site Strategy

In this project we will be exploring strategies that determine the general massing of the housing elements (terraces, blocks, towers, slabs, clusters, etc.). However, as we design, our focus should be on the open space. This includes the streets, alleys, paths and such that determine the entry points and movement patterns across the site. This establishes one of the key aspects of the character of the neighbourhood.
Overall, the quality of the scheme will depend on other open spaces – courtyards, greens, gardens, patios, playgrounds and so on. The idea behind the scheme is to create a friendly neighbourhood where different activities could occur between each spaces and thinking about the existing buildings in relation to the new scheme and site. What I have designed is the elements between those two, creating each spaces and understanding people’s movement and inhabitation within the site. When drawing a section I have started adding few elements to understand what could happen on the site.
