I am a designer/maker from Bristol, interested in material reclamation and combatting waste streams to create unique design solutions. I am particularly interested in the furniture industry and strongly believe that we are straying away from appreciating the craft of making. I want to increase confidence in DIY through simplifying the making process whilst creating objects that hold emotional value. I want to come in between bespoke and mass-manufactured furniture to develop a new alternative.
OFFCUT is a system using waste wood from local makers to teach people skills to make their own DIY furniture. The furniture is made using one shape of varying lengths and aims to give people confidence in making. This DIY system allows people to appreciate materials seen as waste and to make furniture that has an emotional value to the individual through the act of making.
