Ben Oakey

Prisoners in the British justice system suffer disproportionally high rates of mental health issues. This often ends in recurring offending and disablement, causing a real effect on human lives, environment and economy. This initial body of work begins to research the causation and effect of mental health within the prison system. It gazes upon it through the lens of design in a few guises, both critiquing and speculating. It hopes to realise possibilities for upcoming modules with the goal of a significant body of research to sustain better mental health and successful rehabilitation.
