Considerate Citizen Wristbands
The pandemic has changed the way people interact with each other in outdoor spaces. It has become irresponsible to have a morning chat with a stranger, so how can humans greet each other in a safe and caring way? The ‘Considerate Citizen Wristbands’ are designed for use in outdoor spaces and are a symbol of shared thoughtfulness towards others during a pandemic.
There are three levels of meaning to the wristbands, which are represented by their colour. The red band meaning: I’m currently shielding, the yellow band meaning: Let’s keep a safe distance and the green band meaning: Yes, I’m happy to talk.
Human’s Perception of Wild Places: Wild Hotspots
The rapid increase of human interference in wild environments, especially over the last couple of centuries, has made it far more difficult for humans to experience true wilderness. This project, ‘Wild Hotspots’ is about exposing these wild places and letting humans see the destruction that has occurred. Are these locations still wild, and have they been influenced by humans in any way? Could they even be described as wilderness? These are all questions I’m uncovering in an investigation into the relationship between humans and nature.
What’s Next?
The projects thus far have been building blocks of a further goal. I’m extremely passionate about rewilding, the mass restoration of ecosystems. As a continuation of my research into the relationship between humans and nature, I’d like to ask the question: How might we responsibly reintroduce humans into a rewilded environment?
