Mersea Island is a small coastal community a few miles outside of Colchester in Essex. The local economy is heavily centred around two things: sailing tourism and oyster farming.
I looked for current material exports that could be re-intergrated into areas to create a more regionally specific material landscape. What I discovered was sand (and sandstone).
